Snow

You remember my complaining when I introduced my winter bucket list? Yeah, well for whatever reason I still put a walk and a snowman on there. Anyways, this week Grand Rapids got 19 inches of snow and they're saying to plan on more. It's not packing snow for a snowman so I just took some pretty picture on campus to show you how lovely the snow looks around campus. Even the though snow looks pretty, I'm not sure why they have tours of high school juniors and their parents walking around with a windchill below zero but whatever. I'm not an amazing photographer with my little digital Kodak camera and it was really cloudy but GVSU does take amazing care of it's buildings and landscaping so it is a really pretty campus and that is what drew me there so here are my pretty pictures of snow.

The Cook Carillon Tower houses 48 bronze bells that ring every 15 minutes. They are actually 2 minutes early so you know if you are eating lunch or walking slowly, speed it up because you are about to be late. They play Christmas carols in December and bring in musicians in the spring to play and you can even peek in and watch from time to time.

You can't actually see cars from the main campus. All the main parking lots are hidden by buildings or man made hills and landscaping. Even most of the residence halls are fairly removed from parking lots.

The university arborist takes care of all 4,800 trees on GVSU's campus and they are all native to Michigan. GVSU is also home to a 7 acre arboretum as well as 4 gardens.

The Cook-Dewitt Center is the auditorium that overlooks the Valley. It is home to a huge old fashioned pipe organ and there are a lot of alumni weddings here in the spring and summer. It will always hold fond memories for me because they hold freshman orientation in this building.

Friday Faves

Is it really Friday again already? Who can tell when every day is homework day?!
1. Saturday with Jessica and Liam
I got a visit from Jessica and Liam on Saturday. We had a blast! We went shopping and Liam got to play with Courtney. I have missed them so much!

2. Rice Pudding
I made some really yummy rice pudding on Sunday. You'll be able to read about it in February. It's so creamy and warm. I just love cuddling up with a bowl as a reward for a long day of trekking through the snow for classes.

3. Valentine's Day
Aren't these ties cool? I'm getting Luke one of these very cool ties with a page on a book of 1942 military chemical warfare. Cyberoptix makes some really cool ties and Luke liked quite a few so it might be my new back up for presents for the boy.

4. WIVC Training
I spent a lovely hour learning about the Womens Issues Volunteer Corps this week and I can truly say I am so excited by their mission that I can't wait to get involved.

5. Honest Abe
When you're riding the struggle bus and it seems like the week may never get to five faves, you gotta find a mantra to remind yourself that sometimes the walking gets a little slower. The pace this week definitely took a nose dive. But the attitude won't. I most certainly am not ever going backwards.

Friday Faves

This Friday Faves is going to be way easier than last weeks. I was so busy and so many great things happened. It's almost too difficult to pick...

1. Joe's Birthday!
I had so much fun celebrating Joe's birthday on Sunday. I had to make this one thing because I couldn't pick just one thing from that day that would be my favorite. We had Five Guys with some friends and ate Coldstone cupcakes and watched Twilight with Rifftrax. We had BD's for dinner and I had some much needed relaxation after a long week.

2. Anatomy and Physiology
I am so excited about this class. I love studying for it. I love going to it.  It's so much fun. I am so excited for the semester in this class.

3. Pay Day!
It's pay day! Woot! My first check from Subway!

4. NyQuil
This is heaven in a bottle when you are so sick you can barely function. Much like myself at the moment. Hopefully a good night's sleep will help me get rid of this yucky cold.

5. Doctor Scholl's Massaging Gel Inserts
Also heaven when you are on your feet for 8 hours. Not necessarily perfect but worth the $10. My feet started to hurt later and less intense in the day.

Friday Faves

It's Friday again! I wish I could say I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend but I'm actually only looking forward to a nice relaxing Sunday. Subway owns my soul. I'm warning you... this is probably the most random list of all time. But when Subway owns your soul, it really is the little things in life that
get you through working 80 kajillion hours a week. But here's my five favorites for my fourth week of blogging.

1. This Video
Pretty epic if I do say so myself.

2. Gravy
Thank you, gravy. For fixing my sad, dry rice problem. And making my chicken extra tasty. And for making my list a little sad because let's be honest, when gravy makes your faves for a week, its a work infested, sad sad week.

3. My Siblings
This picture just cracks me up!

4. My Dry Erase Calendar
I am a giant nerd. I sat down this week and planned out what I am going to eat after I get paid. Even snacks. It's color coded. And I just look at it every once in a while and smile. It makes me so happy. I told you. Nerd.

5. My Copco Tumbler
If you don't have one of these, you live a sad life. Seriously though, this thing saves my butt at work for two reasons. First, I like using my own cup because using the employee cups means one more thing I'd have to wash at the end of my shift. Second, with unlimited pop, I'd be drinking so many calories in a shift. Like 88oz of pop. But instead, I use water in my own cup because I don't like washing it. So my laziness saves me again. :)
